Description:
FT, 9-month position requires valid PA Reading Specialist and Elementary Education certificates. Experience as a Reading Specialist preferred. Multiple experiences in the teaching of reading and writing at a variety of grade levels also preferred. Candidate must possess superior communication skills and be able to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents. Candidate must have an understanding of the PA State Assessment for Reading and Writing (PSSA). A working knowledge of the Kindergarten, 3rd and 5th grade PA Academic Standards for Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening as well as the assessment anchors is also a must.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Collaborative planning with teachers and building principal to further strengthen classroom literacy instruction
- Modeling/co-teaching of lessons to support the implementation of a balanced literacy approach
- Working directly with classroom teachers on all areas of the PA Standards for RWSL
- Assisting teachers in using assessment to drive their instruction, with an emphasis on supporting the implementation of the Response to Intervention model.
- Assisting teachers as they differentiate instruction in both reading and writing
- Using technology to assist with data interpretation and to enhance instruction
- Opportunities to provide building-based and district-wide professional development for staff
