Chemistry Teacher

Mastery Charter Schools is seeking highly qualified chemistry teachers. Teachers will be responsible for establishing classroom routines and student instruction as well as follow through with consistency. Teachers will also be responsible for developing effective lesson plans, homework assignments and assessments. In conjunction with guidance from the school, teachers will analyze student assessment data and use data to develop tutoring plans and inform instruction, collaborate with other faculty to discuss student work, share best practices, and ensure student mastery of standards, maintain close relationships with families, including phone calls and conferences, and tutor those students who need extra support on a daily basis. Teachers are expected to participate in on-going professional development and sponsoring extra-curricular activities. Teachers are to be committed to high expectations for students, high support for students and a complete focus on student performance.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in subject matter that one wishes to teach or at least two years related teaching experience
- Must have or be working towards a Pennsylvania Teacher Certification
- Teachers with Dual Certifications preferred
- Must be able to work collaboratively in a non-traditional, inner-city environment
- Outstanding instructional skills, including the ability to motivate and challenge students and maintain an orderly classroom environment
- Demonstrated expertise in subject area
- A strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement
- A belief that all students should be held to high academic standards
- The ability to communicate effectively with parents
- Demonstrated professionalism and responsibility, and a strong work ethic
- A positive, high-energy attitude and a drive for personal excellence
