Job Description:
Milton Hershey School (MHS) is currently seeking a Driver's Education & Physical Education teacher. This will be a Long Term Substitute opportunity for the 09-10 School year with option to apply for hire for 10 - 11 School year.
The Driving's Education aspect of the job includes preparing students for their PA Drivers license tests in accordance with the PA Drivers Operating Manual. This teacher is responsible for instruction in both the classroom and in the vehicles. Students are to learn the fundamental aspects of operating a vehicle safely and proper driving management techniques. (They are required to attain a PA driver's license in order to graduate from MHS.)
The Physical Education aspect of the job includes teaching health and physical education curriculum to high school students (9th grade - 11th grade). This includes instruction in the classroom as well as in/on the athletic facilities / fields.
Bachelor's degree with a major or minor in physical/health education.
-Experience in both Physical Education and Driver's Education strongly preferred.
-Current CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard certification required.
-Clean and valid PA driver's license required.
-Drivers Education Certification & certifications required by DOT.
-Knowledge of current trends in education preferred.
-Excellent organizational and communication skills.
-Ability to exercise various teaching strategies to increase students' critical thinking skills.
-Ability to work in a collaborative model with fellow staff members.
-Ability to work with standards-based curriculum and student performance assessment.
-Must carry at least 1 additional duty each contract year.
-Demonstrated commitment to high student achievement & support for all students in a diverse, multicultural environment.
Minimum Salary $46,989.00
