Classroom Teacher

Job Description:
Summary of Position:

Assists the classroom teacher in meeting the reading needs of all students.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

- Screen students to establish proper reading level placement
- Assists classroom teachers in selection of students needing special reading instruction
- Provides diagnostic, prescriptive and evaluate services for identified students
- Assists with the administration of state tests.
- Confers with the principal on the needs of the reading program
- Acts as a resource teacher in reading to regular classroom teachers by assisting them in organizing their reading program, selecting materials, suggesting teaching techniques and relating their instructional program to the special needs of the students
- Gives demonstration lessons in the teaching of reading as requested or required
- Assists in the establishment and development of school and district reading curriculum
- Provides reading resources for teachers, aides and parents
- Promote professional development in reading/language arts.
- Provide reading enrichment to students reading above grade level as needed.
- Interpret assessment information into implications for instruction and prepare a written report for the student's cumulative records
- Other duties as assigned

Skills, Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree wit a PA reading certification
- Classroom experience in teaching reading and with working with diverse groups
- Criminal Record Check Clearance
- Child Abuse Clearance
FBI Clearance
