Job Description:
Position Title: Teacher - Javits Grant, Project TLC

Reports To: Project Director Javits Grant


Summary of Position:
The TLC teacher will provide students with advanced learning and enrichment experiences in specifically designated areas of the curriculum, helping students utilize their special intellectual gifts. He/she will support the work of the classroom teachers through activities such as tutoring in the classroom and assisting the students with special projects. The teacher will support implementation of the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM). Assignments will involve multiple buildings.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support and implement the CCCS curriculum, standards, and benchmarks and participate in all professional development
- Integrate CCCS curriculum around creative thematic units and enhancements in social studies, science, literacy and math using SEM
- Collaborate with school administrative team and classroom teachers to implement SEM and TLC project and strategies to achieve academic goals including differentiating classroom instruction for high ability students.
- Plan and lessons that develop decision-making and problem-solving skills and student assessment
- Work with small groups of children and/or one-on-one with flexible assignments
- Foster students' positive self image, self-discipline and work habits
- Track student progress and keep the teacher informed
- Administer standardized tests for TP identification and statewide requirements
- Maintain all TLC Program records and student confidentiality.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, Grade Directors and the TLC Director
- Other duties as assigned

Skills, Education & Experience:
- Certified, masters preferred.
- Coursework, training, or experience working with academically talented children.
- Aptitude for math and language arts preferred
- Ability to work with students with different cultural and language backgrounds preferred
