Description:
The Licking County E.S.C. has an opening for a Gifted and Talented Coordinator who will be providing services to Newark City Schools. Three other gifted coordinators assigned to other districts work collaboratively to provide specific assistance to districts in supporting gifted children. Successful candidates will have the ability to assist in the identification, selection, placement, and guidance of gifted children; provide inservice to parents, teachers, and administrators regarding the needs and characteristics of gifted children; provide consultation on curriculum development, program development, teaching strategies, and material selection in the area of gifted education; and coordinate appropriate services for gifted children which may include mentorships, advanced course work, the formation of special seminars, independent study, and interdisciplinary curricular experiences. A Master's degree and a valid teaching certificate with Gifted validation is required. Three years of successful teaching experience with preference given to persons with experience teaching gifted children and/or coordinating programs is desired.
