Description:
POSITION TITLE: Library System Support Specialist

REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Library Services

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide guidance and support for school library media specialists in using technology to advance the library program. Support the library automation system. Coordinate the selection and licensing of online database services. Assist with library-related web pages and the Online Curriculum Guide. Provide training opportunities for school library staff. Serve as a consultant to library media specialists about emerging technologies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Function as the Library Help Desk. Troubleshoot difficulties with library software; analyze hardware or network issues in the school libraries; address issues with subscription databases and other online resources.

Serve as systems librarian for the library automation system. Run maintenance programs; update policy and configuration files as needed. Serve as liaison with the library automation system vendor and district technology department.

Serve as a consultant to library media specialists on the operation of the automated library system, the use of electronic resources and the development of library web pages. Provide training and on-site instruction for library media specialists and other building library staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Missouri teaching certificate-Librarian certification preferred;
Competence with computers, computer applications, and basic networking functions;
Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite programs;
Proficiency with database searching techniques;
Understanding of web page design, experience with Dreamweaver helpful;
Experience in designing/delivering technology training.

Experience in a school library a plus
