Job Description:
INTERPRETER
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a high school diploma, an Intermediate Certification by the Commission for the Deaf and licensed by the Division of Professional Registration.
JOB DESCRIPTION / DUTIES: Interpreter for deaf and hard of hearing students needed to interpret spoken language into Sign Language during all classroom activities, teacher instruction, peer conversation, assemblies, etc.
1. Provide as the major link in the communication process for the deaf/hearing impaired student in the classroom.
2. Serve as communication link for the teacher to the student, student to teacher, and student
to student relationships as well as the principal, counselor, speech therapist and the
nurse.
3. Be able to transmit all communication messages in an accurate manner.
4. Maintain and increase skills by attending
workshops and reading current literature.
