High School Part- Time Learning Specialist
Start Date: IMMEDIATE
Location: New Haven, CT

Achievement First is a charter school management organization started in July 2003 by the leaders of Amistad Academy, a high performing charter school in New Haven, CT. Responsibilities of the Learning Specialist will include:
- Instructing small groups of students while setting extremely high expectations
- Provide pull-out and push-in services to students with IEPs
- Implement the Achievement First curriculum, systems, and philosophy on a daily basis
- Write IEPs for students in need
- Prepare impeccable student folders for all IEP meetings
- Coordinate and run CST meetings
- Complete progress reports both informally and formally for students with IEPs
- Coordinate, run, and document CST meetings
- Attend and actively participate in all SPED team meetings and conference calls
- Be present daily for breakfast, lunch, dismissal, and exercise time to ensure great school culture
- Provide leadership with all staff and students to establish a positive, structured, achievement-oriented, and fun school culture
- Participate in coaching and professional development to improve instructional practice, especially as it relates to discipline, student relationships, and school culture
- Use data strategically to inform instruction so that all students achieve dramatic gains
- Attend all Achievement First professional development workshop
Educational Background and Work Experience
- Bachelors degree from a competitive college or university
- SPED Certification or a willingness to aggressively seek it
- 2 years of urban teaching experience
