| Duties: The Speech and Language Pathologist is responsible to work with students in the K-8 program who experience speech and language delays and impairments and have been diagnosed as needing special education support. While working with these speech and language students, the Speech/Language Pathologist may also work with At-Risk students within the general education population. Also works in collaboration with the Special Education Building Coordinator in the formation of daily schedules, testing schedules, and annual meetings. Supplies the building coordinator with current Speech and Language student lists so he/she can maintain a master Special Education list. Accountabilities: The SLP should demonstrate professionalism in dealing with confidentiality issues and creativity in challenging and reaching each student's learning. Specific accountabilities include planning IEP meetings in a timely manner, maintaining complete records for all students, and carrying out pre-referral strategies and interventions to general educators. Certification and Experience: Qualified candidates must have a Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology and a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech and Language Pathology. Experience is preferred but not necessary. |
