Description:
* Appropriate certification and credentials from the Mich. Dept. of Ed. to teach students with Autism (R340.1799) or approval for temporary certification as determined by the MDE and SBE
* Meet minimum requirements of No child Left Behind
* Previous experience teaching students with Autism
* Knowledge of child development, with special emphasis on language, communication, and cognitive development
* Ability to develop and implement individualized instructional and behavioral plans; able to implement behavioral management techniques
* Ability to work with other professionals in a collaborative manner
* Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training
* Knowledge of systematic curriculum development, with special emphasis on personal adjustment and prevocational education
* Able to provide a structured classroom atmosphere, conducive to learning
* Training and/or experience in language and communication development
* Skill and ability to incorporate recommendations from ancillary support personnel for individual student needs in the classroom
