MOCK TRIAL COACH

DESCRIPTION: The Mock Trial Coach promotes involvement, teaches individual skills, team skills and organizes students for academic competitions. He/She supports students as they engage in trial simulations in competition with teams from other institutions; students develop critical thinking and public speaking skills, as well as knowedge of legal practices and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (1) BS or BA Degree (2) Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with students, peer and adults (3) Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and faculty (4)Supervises all practices and attends all scheduled regional and national-level competitions (5) Organizes and conducts tryouts (6) Makes arrangements for approved travel and supervises students on trips (7) Has a through understanding of the rules and regulations regarding the Mock Trial Program and supports and enforces the program rules and regulations in a fair and equitable manner
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (1) Valid Michigan secondary teaching certificate (2) Successful experience working with a diverse population in an urban setting (3) Successful classroom teaching experience
