SOCIAL STUDIES IMMERSION TEACHER:

DESCRIPTION: Teacher at the middle school level who provides instruction in Social Sttudies. Classes will be taught in Spanish. A Spanish profiency test in speaking , listening, reading and writing will be used to assess the candidate's spanish language skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (1) Valid Michigan teaching certificate with a major in Social Studies and (CX or RX) endorsement (2) Fluency in Spanish both oral and written (3) Must be Highly Qualified in content area (4) Possess technology skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (1) Experience in an integrated arts magnet program (2) Minimum of three years working with middle school students (3) Experience with ESL/SSL methodology/strategies (4) Knowledge of effective instructional stragegies and research based best practices in language, including literacy skills (5) Knowledge and experience in curriculum development and implementation (6) Experience working in a two-way language program (7) Willingness to participate in summer professional development and/or curriculum delvelopment (8)Successful experience working with a diverse population in an urban setting (2) Successful classroom teaching experience
