An Early Childhood Teacher is responsible for the supervision and management of a classroom, in accordance with all Lakeside Children’s Academy, Inc. Policies and Procedures and Missouri State Licensing Rules and Regulations. The principle duties of an Early Childhood Teacher include carrying out age-appropriate activities, ensuring the safety and physical well-being of the children, maintaining regular communication with families and contribute to the effective operation of the overall academy program. An Early Childhood Teacher reports to the Academy Director, Assistant Director, and Lead Teacher in the classroom.

An Early Childhood Teacher reports to the Academy Director, Assistant Director, and Lead Teacher in the classroom.
Description of Duties
- Ensure that childcare routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic, and consistent with Missouri State Licensing Rules and Regulations. This includes staying in compliance with diapering, potty training, ratios, hand washing, sanitation, eating, napping and transitioning between activities.
- Ensure the safety of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment, and regular practice of monthly fire drills and other emergency procedures.
- Create a pleasant, inviting classroom atmosphere in which children feel comfortable and secure.
- Provide experiences which promote individual self-expression in conversation, imaginative play, and creativity.
- Provide a variety of language stimulation activities.
- Ensure that families receive adequate information about their child’s experiences at the Academy through daily contacts. Be respectful of all family dynamics and cultures.
- Maintain daily sheets for families; document throughout the day and communicate with the family at pick up time.
- Contribute to the operation of the Academy by participating in teacher meetings and sharing information gathered through attendance workshops and professional reading. Attendance at Academy activities and events is required.
- Work as a member of a team to ensure continuity of curriculum and a high standard of quality in all classrooms in the Academy.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma; college degree preferred.
- Must obtain at least 12 Clock Hours in Continuing Education annually. Courses must be relating to the age group in which the Early Childhood Teacher works.
- Must be willing to obtain your CPR and First Aid Certifications.
- Must have a physical and TB screening.
- Must be physically able to perform the job of a teacher of young children.
- Must have a warm, supportive attitude towards children and families.
- Must have excellent decision making skills.
- Must be on time and reliable.
- Must be flexible and supportive of the Academy as a whole.
- Must adapt to changes in the program or at the Academy.
- Must be willing to accept supervision in order to improve work performance.
