Job Description:


EASTCONN TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS is seeking an application developer to build and maintain portal-based web applications and mobile device applications. The successful candidate will be able to work in a small team environment and be primarily responsible for system design, application development, testing, implementation, and database administration. 

Reports to: Director of Technology Solutions/CTO 

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with partners and team members on the development of applications and systems
• Gather, translate and refine business requirements into technical specifications
• Develop user interfaces, write and debug code, design data bases, write documentation
• Apply production control and version control methodologies
• Assure system availability and stability; proactively monitor servers, applications and services
• Perform regular and on-demand system backups and recoveries
• Maintain relationships with current partners
• Recognize opportunities for new projects and new partners
• Research, evaluate and recommend technologies to support educational/business requirements
• Create and maintain documentation for all processes and procedures
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Some local travel
• Develop skills in coaching, mentoring, and/or training in formal and informal settings
• Develop skills to plan, analyze, design, implement and maintain custom web applications end to end

Required Skills

• Programming proficiency in in a C-family programming language (C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, etc.)
• Programming proficiency PHP or PYTHON
• Knowledge of SWIFT and its applications
• Understanding of LAMP-stack application development
• Understanding of the MVC application paradigm
• Strong understanding of DBMs, SQL, and data organization strategies
• Exceptional technical-problem solving skills
• Superior verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to successfully work with all personality types in a fast-paced environment
• Strong technical aptitude and ability to research & solve complex issues independently
• Ability to analyze systems and make recommendations to improve performance, security and reliability
• Experience with Kotlin, React Native, Flutter, Ionic, Xamarin, Node.js, Appcelerator Titanium, Corona or other cross-platform mobile application development framework
• Strong knowledge of PHP 5+ and Object-Oriented Programming
• Knowledge of PHP Frameworks such as Laravel, ZEND (2 or greater), or similar
• Proficient with JavaScript libraries such as JQuery/Bootstrap, Angular or React
• Strong HTML 5 and CSS coding skills
• Demonstrated experience with PHP applications that deliver dynamic content from MySQL databases
• Familiarity with Object Oriented (OO) Design and Model-View-Controller architecture
• BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent combination of education or experience
• Valid CT driver's license and access to an insured vehicle

Desirable Skills

• Managing and administering SQL, MySQL, and/or Access databases
• Familiar with Linux and Apache 2 configuration in a Linux environment
