The Pinnacle School Job Posting Occupational Therapist

The Pinnacle School, a private, special education day school for students in grades 2 through 12, seeks an Occupational Therapist for a full-time, school-based position (11 months). 

The focus of Occupational Therapy program at The Pinnacle School is to address students’ individual sensory and motor needs to improve their overall performance in the school setting and beyond. Our program focuses on sensory integration theory and praxis skill development to remediate critical foundational skills.  

The occupational therapist will work with students individually and in small groups throughout the school day utilizing the School’s large, dedicated OT gym. The occupational therapist will be joining a robust and collaborative team of highly trained clinicians and teachers with expertise in special education, school counseling, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and classroom and behavior management.

The Occupational Therapist will provide high quality, direct OT services to students according to their IEP plan or individual therapy program, ensuring evaluations, treatment plans and service delivery are aligned with school, state and federal guidelines.

The Pinnacle School enables students with language-based learning differences to thrive through small class sizes, differentiated instruction, active problem-solving, and relationship building. Candidates will be joining a robust and collaborative team of highly trained clinicians and teachers with expertise in special education, school counseling, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and classroom and behavior management. The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy and valid Connecticut state license
  • Experience working with special education student populations (preferably in a school setting)
  • Skilled at performing and writing school-based pediatric assessments and evaluations
  • Familiar with the IEP process
  • Background in Sensory Integration (SI) theory strongly preferred
  • Commitment to helping children of all abilities reach their full potential
  • Excellent communication skills, and a collaborative, enthusiastic style to fit with our small-team environment.
