Job Description:
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Director of Pupil and Special Education Services, to provide quality school-based occupational therapy services to promote student independence through fine/gross motor skill development, sensory motor integration, self-care, an/or activities of daily living. 
Essential Functions
Performance Responsibilities
 • Knowledgeable of preschool / early childhood development, assessment of this population and interventions with this group 
• Evaluates the student's ability and formulates the student's occupational profile through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviews
• Synthesizes evaluation results into a comprehensive written report which reflects strengths and barriers to student access and participation in the educational environment; directs program development; and guides evidence-based intervention and reviews findings with families and staff
• Develops occupationally based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results
• Participates and collaborates in IEP/504 process, including the development of IEP programs and/or 504 plans 
    • Adapts and modifies the environment including assistive technology and adaptive equipment and training instructional staff to meet 
      individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible
• Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment to determine the need to continue, modify and/or discontinue school-based services. 
• Evaluate and report on student progress through data collection, including (but not limited to) IEP goals/objectives 
    • Serves as a resource (including providing training) to families, school team, staff and administration on exceptionalities and their     
      effects on education
    • Collaborates with community-based therapists and other healthcare providers for effective coordination of services
     • Participates and consults with improving school accessibility and planning environmental modification
     • Procure, maintain and inventory equipment, materials and supplies
• Monitors and reassess the effects of occupational therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention.

Requirements:
Current State of CT Occupational Therapist license required.
    
Experience in school setting preferred.
