TITLE: MIDDLE SCHOOL COUNSELOR - 26/27
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Camdenton R-III School District is seeking a middle school counselor that will provide a comprehensive counseling program focused on academic, social-emotional, and career development for grades 6th through 8th. Successful candidates will be responsible for facilitating individual and small-group counseling, classroom counseling lessons, crisis intervention, academic advising, and acting as a liaison between families and staff. Creating a culture of “Everyone Learning Every Day”.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Building Principal and other Central Office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a master’s degree or higher in school counseling, education, or counseling psychology and maintain a proper Missouri certificate in School Counseling. (Certification in a related field may be considered).
- Pass all background checks and screenings.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Addresses issues common to early adolescence, such as bullying, peer pressure, self-esteem, family transitions, anxiety, and depression.
- Helps students develop study habits, organizational skills, and time management.
- Reviews academic progress to provide interventions.
- Conducts short term, solution focused individual counseling sessions and small-group sessions (e.g., social skills, grief, friendship).
- Provides individual planning, including career exploration activities and transition support between intermediate-to-middle and middle-to-high school.
- Acts as a liaison between students, teachers, parents, and administrators, and connects families with community resources.
- Analyzes school data (attendance, discipline, grades) to identify student needs and implement targeted interventions.
- Ability to relate to early adolescents and possess strong communication and listening skills.
- Possess crisis intervention and conflict resolution abilities.
- Understanding of counseling curriculum and developmental milestones.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Building Principal and other Central Office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 9 month contract (179 days) plus 10 days supplemental
- Salary Schedule - Salary is commensurate with experience and education. Base salary starts at $51,500.
