Job Description:
Gateway Science Academy High School is seeking a motivated, student-centered Head Soccer Coach to lead and develop our high school soccer program. The Head Coach is responsible for building a competitive program that emphasizes character, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic success while creating a positive and meaningful experience for all student-athletes.

Essential Functions
  • Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of the high school soccer program.
  • Represent the students, staff, and parents of the Gateway Science Academy in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
  • Promote sportsmanship and positive conduct in all aspects of the program.
  • Develop and implement practice plans and game strategies aligned with program goals.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches.
  • Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality for all practices, games, meetings, and events.
  • Support the athletic program during the summer by supervising training sessions and practices.
  • Promote player safety through proper conditioning, supervision, and injury prevention protocols.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of all equipment and uniforms issued to participants.
  • Ensure compliance with school district policies, state athletic association guidelines, and conference/league rules.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with athletes, parents/guardians, administrators, and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Meet all legal requirements and Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) certification requirements.
  • Meet all qualifications established by the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA).

Terms of Employment

This position is an extra-duty assignment. The period of employment will be determined by the school calendar and program needs. Responsibilities may include attendance at state conferences, meetings, playoff games, and other events associated with the soccer program.
