Job Description:
The Academy of St. Louis is the only Catholic K–12 school in the St. Louis area dedicated exclusively to students with special education needs. Through a trauma-informed approach, individualized instruction, and a 3:1 staff-to-student ratio, we are uniquely equipped to support each student’s academic, social, and emotional growth while preparing them for life beyond high school.
Position Type: Full-time (7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; additional hours as needed)
Reports To: Principal
Position Summary:
The Academy of St. Louis is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate understands the diverse learning needs of students with autism and learning disabilities and is committed to fostering a structured, supportive, and faith-filled classroom environment. Familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and trauma-informed practices is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized, standards-based instruction aligned with each student’s IEP goals
- Support students’ academic, behavioral, social, and emotional development
- Utilize trauma-informed practices and behavior supports, including ABA strategies
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families to ensure student success
- Maintain accurate student records and progress monitoring
- Foster a positive classroom environment rooted in Catholic values
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (Master’s preferred)
- Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate with Special Education certification
- Minimum of two years of experience as a lead teacher in a special education setting preferred
- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and behavior intervention strategies
- Understanding of and appreciation for the Catholic faith and mission of the school
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
