Education Director
Spire School in Stamford CT, is actively recruiting for an Education Director for the 2022-2023 School year. Four to seven years of experience assisting the Head of School and Dean of Students in a special education school that's population is Middle and/or Upper School students is preferred.
Spire is a State-Approved Special Education School, grades 6 - 12 for students with social and/or emotional challenges. Our model of individualized social-emotional wellness plans and our small group setting ( classes are no more than 6:1, some are smaller) makes us unique, and 80% of our students are district placed.
Candidates for the position must have a demonstrated passion for education and a collaborative style to work on a team prepared to meet the individualized needs of each student enrolled in our school. Our school has over 60 students enrolled and has a strong, established team of leaders, teachers, and life coaches who collaborate for the common goal of having each child reach their full potential. The Education Director on this team will be responsible for the following:
Partner with the Dean of Students and Head of School to ensure the implementation of student IEPs
Collaborate with the Dean of Students and Head of School regarding state approval process and NEASC accreditation
Serve as Team District Facilitator
Serve on Leadership Team and Admissions Committee
Attends and leads PPTs and related meetings
Manages student transition program
Confers with parents, teachers, counselors, support personnel and students on matters of discipline and welfare
Coordinate all standardized testing
Partner with Dean of Students to supervise and evaluate teachers and life coaches
Responsible for developing school year master schedule process, including all necessary faculty/staff and student/family communication
Supports teaching staff in development/implementation of classroom management techniques and works with designated school staff to develop proactive disciplinary interventions
With school leaders and staff build a strong, positive and sustaining community
MUST have CT Certification, or New York certification which is transferrable. 092 Intermediate Administrator required. Special Education Certification also required.
