POSITION: Talent Recruiter, Office of Talent Management

REPORTS TO: Senior Talent Recruiter

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Talent Recruiter will organize activities and data gathering as they relate to attracting, identifying, recruiting, and selecting certified talent. The Talent Recruiter will coordinate with hiring managers to identify recruitment needs, determine selection criteria, and source diverse potential candidates through various channels. 

  • Assist in the development and implementation of human capital management systems and practices that attract, identify, recruit, and select diverse talent who have the competencies needed to carry out the district’s strategy and to attain its goals
  • Oversee recruitment advertising, application processing, and candidate prescreening
  • Work with principals and administrators to ascertain specifications of position requirements, competencies wanted in a new hire, features of the position that can serve as selling points, and potential sources of applicants
  • Draw together feedback on quality candidates that result from recruitment efforts
  • Assist in the development of competency models and rubrics used to guide the information that interview panels collect in interviews
  • Coordinate educator ambassadors to participate in job fairs and campus recruitment visits, so candidates can meet directly with credible representatives of the district and possible future supervisors
  • Maintain an applicant pipeline for current and future openings
  • Oversee Exit Interview process, including data collection and analysis
  • Analyze data, compile reports, give presentations, and assist in development of action plan based on responses from surveys, as it pertains to recruitment and retention of high-quality talent
  • Schedule outreach opportunities and represent and promote Hartford Public Schools (HPS) through external and internal events, on-campus events, and other opportunities
  • Develop networks within and outside the organization (higher education, community organizations, and business partners) to find promising job candidates
  • Oversee recruiting budget
  • Perform all other duties as designated by the Senior Talent Recruiter
  • Assist in the update and maintenance of certified job descriptions
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in the education field and recruitment
  • Familiarity with and ability to communicate the District Model for Excellence
  • Ability to accurately research pertinent information
  • Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to confidentially deal effectively, equitably, fairly, and courteously with people in a variety of environments
  • Excellent technology skills with a particular facility for Microsoft Office
  • Experience using district systems, databases, and online resources, as well as applicant tracking systems
  • Capability to work independently and manage projects with little direction
  • Ability to follow through and meet deadlines within difficult time constraints
  • Ability to maintain flexible work schedule, as some evenings and weekends are required

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a twelve-month work year position. Starting salary $65,000.

EVALUATION: Evaluations shall be conducted annually by the supervisor.
