This position is eligible for the Teacher's Retirement Board (TRB) Pension Program!
The Self-Contained Classroom SPED Teacher will be responsible for teaching students in the Whitney Hall School program. Teachers work in a special education environment, self-contained classroom setting, servicing grades K-12. This position will be accountable to the Principal and the Vice President of Education, and will work with the entire Children's Center of Hamden staff regularly.
Work schedule is based on the school year calendar plus an additional 5-week summer program.

Candidates should have:
- CT Certified Special Education Credential #165, or eligibility for Emergency Special Education Teaching Certification is required.
- 2 years of teaching or related experience required.
- Good interpersonal and behavioral management skills.
- Ability to work in a special education setting with emotionally disturbed and learning-disabled children and adolescents.
- Comprehensive and current knowledge of all subjects taught.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction across a range of grade levels.
