Job Description:

Natchaug Hospital, a State of Connecticut provider of special education, is recruiting for a Special Education Teacher in the Enfield Clinical Day Treatment School which is located 15 minutes from Springfield MA and 25 minutes from Hartford, CT. Small caseloads (max8), ample resources, and working with an amazing team are just some of the perks of this job!
The successful candidate will be certified in Special Education (or relevant secondary certification with the ability to obtain special education certification) in the state of Connecticut and able to report to work as soon as possible. The Teacher provides academic instruction to students in grades 7-12 in a clinical day treatment program serving students with emotional and behavioral challenges. Students placed in the program have not been successful in traditional settings.
Experience Requirements:
Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting (public or private). Experience working with students with challenging behavioral and emotional needs is preferred.
Education Requirements:
BA/BS degree minimum required
Licensure/Certifications Required:
Certification from the CT State Department of Education.
Other:
Willingness to be part of an interdisciplinary team working for the best interests of students academically, clinically and vocationally.
Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, child and adolescent growth and development, and student learning styles.
Computer and keyboarding skills required; interactive whiteboard experience preferred.
