Job Description:
The Bloomfield Public Schools has vacancies for a Special Education Teacher at Carmen Arace Middle School.

The Special Education Teacher provides instruction in the following areas: academic, social, behavioral, adaptive, transition (post -secondary and employment) and/or functional living skills by differentiating instruction and using a variety of teaching strategies, materials, and assistive technology to initiate and reinforce learning. S/he assesses students’ strengths and areas for improvement through formal and informal evaluation measures. Develops and/or modifies curriculum and prepares lessons and other instructional materials according to students’ instructional levels and individual needs. S/he collaborates with colleagues, parents and the community to ensure the success of all students. Responsible for meeting standards defined in Connecticut’s Common Core of Teaching and for helping students to meet the expectations defined in Connecticut’s Common Core of Learning. Performs related work as required or assigned by her/his supervisor(s).

Interested candidates must hold current Connecticut certification with the appropriate endorsement for Special Education teacher 165 or 065 or be immediately eligible for appropriate Connecticut Certification endorsement for Special Education teacher as above.
