Job Description:
The Academic Intervention Specialist is a program-based position with the Student Success Center (SSC) Team. This position will engage in a person-centered planning approach to student success through credit-recovery. As part of the SSC team the Academic Intervention Specialist will ensure students are able to access and benefit from educational opportunities by considering the unique needs of each student in the interest of creative problem-solving to remove barriers to school engagement, identify targeted academic interventions, services and supports.
The Academic Intervention Specialist will operate and supervise the credit-recovery learning lab and provide individualized instructional support for students enrolled in credit recovery and monitor the progress towards graduation student milestones. The Academic Intervention Specialist will utilize dropout prevention research to support the development and implementation of Individual Learning Plans/Student Success Plans for students serviced by the centers. The Academic Intervention Specialist will provide academic support to students enrolled in on-line career and technical education elective courses as they work towards industry certification.
Grade appropriate (Grades 9-12) Connecticut certification is required, along with a master's degree and five (5) years' teaching experience.
Salary is commensurate with experience, educational level and in accordance with the Hartford Public School System’s salary schedule as outlined in the current Hartford Federation of Teachers (HFT Local No. 1018) contract, $51,761 - $106,672. (Appendix E). Extended Day 6.7% (8 Hour Day) and Extended Year 16% (25 Additional Work Days). A flexible work schedule is required.
