 Job Postings: Substitute Teachers for Classroom and Special Education Teachers
Qualifications:
  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong communication skills
  • Oral and/or written references from colleagues and/or supervisors testifying to the candidate’s qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree and or some post-high school education (Preferred)
Requirements:
It is essential that substitute teachers have demonstrated experiences:
  • working with children (preferably in an educational setting)
  • following lesson plans and instructional objectives
  • connecting with students
  • facilitating learning
  • collaborating with colleagues (preferably in an educational setting)
  • adhering to student privacy and confidentiality policies
  • learning new techniques
  • with flexibility
Responsibilities:
Under the direction and supervision of school principals, a substitute teacher will provide coverage for classroom teachers on a daily basis. Substitute teachers are responsible for:
  • First and foremost, keeping students safe by following school and classroom safety procedures
  • Following teacher:
    • lesson plans
    • classroom behavior management procedures or class created charters
  • Engaging in teacher duties such as, but not limited to, lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal duties
  • Ensuring the classroom is in order at the end of the day
  • Leaving a note for the teacher if necessary, to inform him/her of any incidents she/he may need to know.
Term/Duration: Workdays follow the Orange Public Schools Student Calendar, therefore work is available on school days.
7.5 hours a day (8:00 am-3:30 pm) on days when the substitute teacher is available to work. 
Salaries: The 2024/25 daily rate is $120.00.
