Job Posting: District Permanent Sub/Building Substitute Teachers for the Orange Elementary School District
Locations: To be determined
Qualifications: candidate must have own transportation to be able to travel among school buildings
It is essential that the building substitute teachers have demonstrated experiences:
Under the direction and supervision of school principals, a substitute teacher will provide coverage for classroom teachers on a daily basis. Substitute teachers are responsible for:
Workdays follow the Orange Public Schools Student Calendar, so full-time work is guaranteed on school days starting from the second week of school to the last day of school for 7.5 hours a day (8:00 am-3:30 pm). This position is dependent on budgetary constraints, so it is not currently a guaranteed yearly position.
Salary:
The 2024-25 daily rate is $130.00.
Health Insurance:
The Orange Board of Education agrees to provide the employee and their eligible dependents, medical health insurance coverage under the Anthem BC/BS High Deductible Health Plan with
a Health Savings Account.

- Strong work ethic
- Strong communication skills
- Oral and/or written references from colleagues and/or supervisors testifying to the candidate’s qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree and or some post-high school education (Preferred)
It is essential that the building substitute teachers have demonstrated experiences:
- working with children (preferably in an educational setting)
- following lesson plans and instructional objectives
- connecting with students
- facilitating learning
- collaborating with colleagues (preferably in an educational setting)
- adhering to student privacy and confidentiality policies
- learning new techniques
- with flexibility

- First and foremost, keeping students safe by following school and classroom safety procedures
- Following teacher:
- lesson plans
- classroom behavior management procedures (or class created charters)
- Engaging in teacher duties such as, but not limited to, lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal duties
- Ensuring the classroom is in order at the end of the day
- Leaving a note for the teacher if necessary, to inform him/her of any incidents she/he may need to know.
