Position Title:   Job Coach
Provide assistance to students in the Community Partnership Program on job sites within the community.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 2 years of college credit, with degree preferred.
 
  1. History of successful work experience.
  2. Ability to work effectively and independently with students with varied disabilities.
  3. Effective and professional communication and interpersonal skills.
 
REPORTS TO:   Transition Specialist and Director of Special Education and Pupil Services 
 
JOB GOAL:  Working under the direction and supervision of the transition specialist, the job coach provides guidance, support, and supervision to students with disabilities in community-based training and employment sites.  
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  1. Establishes and maintains positive and professional relationships with students, school personnel, and employers. 
  2. Gathers and maintains data about the performance and behavior of individual students in applied work settings and confers with the transition specialist about a student’s instructional goals, progress and performance.
  3. Consults with transition specialist and teachers to assist the student in training or supported employment or other vocational training programs.
  4. Communicates effectively with employers and co-workers to ensure students are integrated and accepted into the work environment.
  5. Serves as a model for students for appropriate interactions, appearance, social skills, and attitudes in the workplace.
  6. Motivates and encourages students to build confidence and competence to work in a productive and competitive manner at the workplace.
  7. Helps develop systems, strategies, techniques, and environmental or task modifications to support student success in vocational training and job tasks.
  8. Follows through on training at job sites using appropriate instructional interventions.
  9. Supports students’ effective self-advocacy in the work place.
  10. Recognizes and maintains a safe and healthy environment at the workplace and follows health, safety and emergency procedures developed by the local school district and the workplace.
  11. Communicates with the transition specialist on a regular basis to report student progress, identify concerns, etc.
  12. Attends assigned trainings and meetings held regularly by the Transition Specialist or the Administration.
  13. Performs other duties as may be assigned.
     
 
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:  Hourly position based on student and program needs. 
 
 
EVALUATION:   Annually by the Transition Specialist.
