Job Description:
Safety and Security Associate: Positions available at Torrington Middle School and at Torrington High School.  It is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain a guard card within 3 months of the date of employment.

JOB GOALS: Provide a presence that is expected to act as a deterrent to unacceptable student activities and to prevent potential problems from arising. Interact in a manner that is friendly yet firm with students, being always alert to their actions and aware of their activities. 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists in monitoring student movement throughout the school building and its campus.
• Assists in monitoring and controlling unauthorized groups in and around school.
• Disperses, in a positive manner, all unauthorized individuals and/or groups in halls, lavatories, stairwells or other areas of the school or campus.
• Recognizes students and addresses them by name.
• Knows and understands school rules and regulations for staff and students, utilizing the appropriate handbooks.
• Reports student rule infractions to the principal or designee.
• Monitors halls, lavatories, and stairwells for students who should be in class.
• Directs parents and/or other visitors to the Main Office.
• Reports immediately to the principal or designee all unusual incidents of concern.
• Calls parents regarding attendance or behavioral concerns when necessary.
• Notifies the principal or designee of any security defects in the school or its campus.
• Monitors on-campus vehicular traffic and parking areas for safety and security.
• Assumes any assignments made by the principal or designee to help provide for the general welfare and safety of the school.
• Carries out other duties and tasks as assigned.
