Job Title: Educational Trainer for child(ren) with Autism Spectrum Disorder(s)
Qualifications/Requisite Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, Speech and Language, or a related field
- Explicit training in Applied Behavioral Analysis, Discrete Trial Teaching, Data Collection
- 1 year minimum supervised experience working with a child or children with autism spectrum disorders
- Proven ability to independently plan lessons, monitor and adjust during lessons, anticipate/manage maladaptive behavior, reinforce positive behavior, document and maintain clear data, consult with other team members
Reports to: Child’s Service Coordinator, Special Education Administration, and Building Principal
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate through performance assessment competence in all areas of instruction using Applied Behavioral Analysis
- Review and understand the scope and sequence of the goals and objectives of the assigned child's Individualized Educational Plan.
- Prepare and present lessons based on the above
- Prepare and maintain individualized materials for each student
- Prepare, maintain, and disaggregate data regarding student progress
- Prepare and articulate, as needed, written reports of student progress
- Actively participate in the development and use of strategies for learning and behavior management
- Implement all strategies developed by team
- Insure students meaningful participation in all appropriate aspects of group and/or school activities as defined by the team
- Supervise student(s) in emergency situations
- Supervise student(s) with all activities of daily living
- Attend and participate in all professional training as required by the district, includes weekly after-school training
- Leave specific plans and materials for student in the event of an absence
- Alert the assigned teacher to any problem or special information about the student
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about the students
- Swim with students as directed by service coordinator
- Assume other delegated assignments that might assist the student, teachers, or administration
