School Psychologist

SALARY

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Provide individual or group counseling to students identified through the Building Intervention Team, 504 Team or PPT
- Design and implement individual, classroom or school-wide programs in social skills, social problem solving, conflict resolution, decision making and life skills
- Design and implement alternative approaches to classroom management, including the facilitation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports
- Evaluate individual students using a variety of assessment methods to determine students’ educational needs or eligibility for special education
- Design and evaluate interventions to monitor student progress
- Participate in a multidisciplinary team to develop educational recommendations
- Collaborate with school personnel to design alternative strategies and appropriate, individualized student programs
- Provide direct support to families to encourage a positive home-school connection
- Design and implement procedures to support students, school staff members and families during times of crisis
- Participate in building or department committees to improve school climate and services to students
- Adhere to the ethical standards of and the preferred practices prescribed by state and national school psychology associations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of local policies and state and federal laws pertaining to school psychology.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified or eligible to be certified as a School Psychologist by the Connecticut State Department of Education.
- Previous experience with middle school age students
- Knowledge of the Common Core State Standards
- Technology skills (Google suite, data collection tools).
