School of Vacancy: Newtown Middle School
Starting Date: April 2026
Ending Date: November 2026
Salary Range: Per teacher contract
Responsibilities: Perform all responsibilities of a school counselor

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Valid Connecticut certification as a School Guidance Counselor
- Evidence of strong preparation and training in counseling coursework, including best practices in student support and developmental guidance
- Proven competence in delivering individual and group counseling services, including skill-building, problem-solving, and social-emotional support
- Strong organizational, communication, and case-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently and accurately
- A clear commitment to meeting the unique developmental, academic, social, and emotional needs of middle school learners
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, productive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners
- Knowledge of effective MTSS practices, including data-informed decision making, targeted interventions, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated understanding and experience supporting students through 504 accommodation plans, including documentation, compliance, and ongoing progress monitoring
- Proficiency with digital systems and tools including CT SEDS, Google Suite, and PowerSchool, with the ability to maintain accurate and timely records
