Job Description:
TITLE:     Dean of Students                                            JOB CLASS:    Professional

DIVISION:  Educational Services                                   DEPARTMENT:  Mid/High
EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT:    Exempt                               FUNDING SOURCE:  ISEP  

  1. Masters degree in Education Administration and a valid New Mexico Professional Educator Administrative License.
  2. A minimum of three (3) years classroom teaching experience.
  3. At least three (3) years minimum experience in a supervisory and/or school administrative capacity particularly in a school setting.  
  4. Knowledge and experience in the field of bilingual/bi-cultural education.
  5. Knowledge and experience in budgetary processes in federally-funded programs.
  6. Must be knowledgeable of classroom management, student disciplinary rules of conduct in the educational setting.
  7. Must possess a valid New Mexico drivers license and insurable through RNSB insurance program.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:   Must undergo an initial criminal background check and every five years thereafter.  Must also complete an initial health examination that includes screening for tuberculosis and a periodic re-examination thereafter as recommended by their health provider.  Must be willing to work flexible hours.

SUPERVISES            :           Education Staff - PreK through 12th Grade 

PAY RANGE              :           Certified Administrator Salary Scale

WORKING HOURS   :           7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (flexible, as needed)

LUNCH HOUR           :           ½ hour daily (flexible, as needed)

POSITION GOAL       :           To assist in areas of student discipline and instructional leadership. To provide athletic/leadership for coaches, teachers and students, an opportunity for extracurricular/ activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of sport and activities.  Will work with students K-12 on academic and personal development and to address students’ needs and remove barriers to their success.  Encourage and counsel students to enhance their decision-making skills and take responsibility for their choices and actions; fostering a more healthful and respectful impact on positive student behavior.
