The Chester Charter School for the Arts is a non-profit, public charter school that serves students in grades K-12 through an arts integrated curriculum. It is a single stand-alone school with no affiliation with any other schools or charter management organizations. CCSA currently serves approximately 650 students.

Position Description
The Guidance Counselor supports the school in building and maintaining a positive, high-standards, achievement-oriented school culture where students flourish. He/she supports the faculty by taking initiative to address socio-emotional challenges for individual students in a proactive manner. The High School Counselor must ensure that all students have a clear post-secondary plan.
Ideal Candidates will have:
  • Experience serving successfully in an urban setting.
  • Proven effectiveness and passion for helping individual students to improve and succeed.
  • Expertise as a liaison between the school, family and outside agencies.
  • Proven ability to contribute to a high-performing team, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities include:
  • Providing direct support service to individual students, small groups, and classrooms.
  • Maintaining services logs and notes.
  • Developing and maintaining family outreach programs and community partnerships.
  • Completing written reports as needed or as requested by CEO and/or Director of High School.
  • Providing direct service to students in the classroom at least once per week.
  • Completing reports as required by Federal, State and local agencies.
  • Monitoring and analyzing daily student attendance records.
  • Conducting professional development workshops on identifying at-risk students.
  • Creating systems and structures to proactively address students’ socio-emotional needs.
  • Completing home visits and assessments as needed.
  • Making oral presentations of assessments, diagnostics, home visits, and observations.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • PA Certification, Act 34, Act 151, Act 169 and FBI clearances
  • Minimum of three years counseling experience, in an urban setting, preferred
