Job Description:
The Dean of Students is a member of the school’s student services team reporting to the school Administration.  The Dean of Students is responsible for leading the student code of conduct as directed by the Board of Trustees and CEO.  
Specific areas of responsibility include:
School Culture Leadership
  • Promotes fair and consistent policies for student behavior management;
  • Manages the Non-Teaching Assistants, coordinates duties for employee coverage;
  • Works closely with government and private agencies as needed for the well-being of each student.
  • Enforces the school uniform policy;
  • Develops and monitors behavior/discipline management policies and protocols;
  • Directs the daily operation of the student code of conduct;
  • Directs the daily student detention and discipline/attendance summer school programs;
  • Maintains records of student conduct, all meetings, and updates Power School/Power Teacher;
  • Communicates with parents, students, and staff concerning problems of student conduct regularly through a variety of means;
  • Prepares and distributes student lockers, student and faculty ID cards and hall passes;
  • Monitors the conduct of students throughout the school day and at school related functions;
  • Works with teachers to help mediate classroom management/student behavior matters;
  • Coordinates with the Student Services Team as it relates to disciplinary and attendance issues;
  • Works in conjunction with the Administration to supervise the Climate Officers and Aides
  • Coordinates safe movement in the community at arrival/dismissal times;
  • Follows PA Code regarding student due process and disciplinary decisions;
  • Presides over student dismissal hearings with Staff Discipline Committee;
  • Presents the recommendation of a student dismissal to CEO;
  • Prepares all required local, state, and federal safety and student discipline reports;
  • Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned.

Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Experience in public education preferred.
