Job Description:
Esperanza Academy recognizes the responsibility to teach all students that are admitted to the school including those who are English Language Learners (ELL's). To better serve those students; Esperanza Academy has a department of teachers and paraprofessionals that instruct English Language Learners. The English Language Development Coordinator is tasked with leading this department with the purpose of serving English Language Learners in maximizing student achievement and growth. This position reports directly to the High School Director of Instruction and works in coordination with the K-12 English Language Development Director.
EACS is a safe, structured, supportive and disciplined environment in which to teach. The Academy has 11th grade test scores above the city of Philadelphia average and value added math and reading proficiency growth among the highest in Pennsylvania. Students graduate at a rate exceeding 90% and drop out at a rate of only 1%. For four consecutive years, EACS has been recognized for its academic achievement by U.S. News and World Report and was awarded with silver and bronze medals. EACS is committed to tailoring curriculum and instruction to the needs of our student body. All applicants must have current FBI fingerprints, PA Criminal, Child Abuse and ACT 168 background checks, as well as the appropriate instructional certification.
