***THIS IS A FULL-TIME, 10 MONTH POSITION***

Chester Community Charter School serves more than 4,000 students in 7 elementary, and 2 middle schools and four campuses in Chester, PA.  We are currently looking for one or more full-time instructional coaches, specializing in Mathematics to work as part of a team of instructional coaches supporting our teachers in grades K-8.  These are ten-month positions.

Position Description:
Instructional Coaches of Mathematics help teachers develop broader perspectives on student learning, stable and supportive classroom learning environments, structure lessons to support active student learning, and develop teaching and assessment strategies that promote rigorous learning.  Key coaching practices include co-planning, modeling, and observing instruction and providing feedback to teachers.  Our coaches adopt a collaborative, non-evaluative approach, developing trusting relationships, maintaining confidentiality, and helping teachers adapt school curriculum to best meet student learning needs.  Coaches maintain active lines of communication with school leaders and contribute to the shared professional development of fellow instructional coaches.

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in mathematics education or related field
  • Valid math teaching certificate
  • Minimum of five (5) years satisfactory professional teaching experience in the area of Mathematics
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and instructional issues and methodologies
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work with other professionals
Responsibilities include:
  • Using classroom observations and student learning data to develop goals for teacher development aimed at improving student learning
  • Developing trusting relationships with classroom teachers and maintaining teacher-coach confidentiality
  • Supporting instructional planning, including co-planning lessons
  • Observing classroom instruction and providing timely, constructive feedback to classroom teachers
  • Modeling high-quality instructional practices
  • Using student achievement data to support improved student learning outcomes
  • Developing a schedule for collaboration with focus teachers
  • Collaborating with administrators and school leaders to promote a positive, high-expectations school culture, support curriculum reform initiatives, and strengthen instruction
  • Providing professional development to support the implementation of high-quality instructional practices, formative assessment practices, and enhance horizontal and vertical curriculum coherence; and
  • Documenting coaching practices to contribute to collective learning about coaching
