The Dean of Operations is a critical member of the school's leadership team. This position is charged with overseeing all finance and operations functions necessary to run a high-performing school. This includes budgeting, procurement, facilities, technology, student enrollment and attendance, student data, regulatory compliance, and academic operations support. Reporting to the Director of Regional Operations, the DOO ensures that the school’s operations meet high standards of operational excellence, and enables instructional leaders and staff to focus on driving strong student achievement outcomes. 
School Operations Leadership & Operations Team Management
  • In partnership with the School Leaders, develop the school-wide operations vision that supports and operationalizes the academic and cultural vision of the school
  • Play a leadership role in the school’s strategic and annual planning and budgeting process
  • Manage and develop school ops team members and hold team members accountable to goals and outcomes
  • Serve as primary ops liaison for school staff, and serve as key member of school leadership team
  • Serve as a full-time and engaged member of school staff, participating in the creation and implementation of school-wide critical routines
  • Work with staff members to assist in the preparation for and running of school-wide events by ensuring that all set-up, coordination, and breakdown is complete
  • Work with the Director of Regional Operations to ensure that the school is satisfying all government requirements related to Title-I
  • Interface with students and families on a regular basis in a warm and professional tone
  • Manage the Office Coordinator to ensure efficient front office systems and management, as well as the administration and collection of student records 
  • Ensure that the school adheres to all state, federal, and district requirements related to conducting safety drills 
  • Monitor student health and safety for any unusual/troubling trends; coordinate with school nurse to ensure that students receive appropriate care & immunizations
  • Manage and oversee the school’s facilities and physical condition of the building and site
  • Schedule routine facility maintenance with outside contractors, including routine technology maintenance and the fixing of school assets like desks and chairs
  • Manage the school’s purchasing systems and inventory needs, ensuring that the school adheres to regional policies with respect to ordering, asset allocation, & asset tracking
  • Lead the school’s annual budget creation process
  • Actively manage the school budget throughout the year, including monthly p-card reconciliation
  • Manage the implementation of the school’s Student Information System to ensure accurate student data in compliance with federal, state, regional, & school expectations
  • Manage student enrollment process & student information tracking
  • Manage the logistical elements related to the administration of assessments 
  • Manage and track technology inventory
  • Ensure that the school follows all of DESE’s policies and procedures with respect to administering the MAP assessment 
  • Serve as primary liaison for school vendors to ensure consistent high-quality service
  • Ensure compliance with National School Lunch Program guidelines
  • Setup and manage revisions of bus and cab routes, including being point-person with transportation vendors
  • Respond to transportation challenges shared by key stakeholders
  • Perform other duties and special projects as required and assigned, as well as attend and assist in school events as needed
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent organization and project management skills; ability to implement programs, manage details, and work independently; ability to develop, revise, and implement procedures and systems; and ability to manage multiple projects and set priorities accordingly
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills

  • Must be able to observe students inside and around the school building
  • Daily operation of a computer and office equipment
