Job Description:
Summary:  Leads the Planning and Development Department in operations relating to District-wide professional learning, instructional support and parent resources and education. Supports continuous improvement efforts aligned to the District’s Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP).
Job Responsibilities:
Instruction and Learning
  1. Leads the Planning and Development Department in developing and supporting professional learning.
  2. Directs and monitors Planning and Development Department continuous improvement through the engagement of staff members to analyze data, set goals, develop action plans with long and short-term timelines, and identify necessary resources to support improvement.
  3. Provides professional learning and support to staff members facilitating professional development in the areas of leadership, instruction and student support.
  4. Hires, supervises and evaluates Planning and Development Department administrators, teachers and support staff.
  5. Promotes a positive culture within the Planning and Development Department through the active engagement of staff members in improvement efforts.
  6. Works cooperatively with administrators, teachers, support staff, and operational staff to ensure effective professional learning.
  7. Conducts ongoing needs assessment of administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, support staff, operational staff, students and parents to meet the goals of the District.
  8. Communicates with representatives of partner districts, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), and other agencies on topics related to professional learning, curriculum development, program evaluation and improvement initiatives.
  9. Works collaboratively with the Executive Director of Planning and Development, District staff and stakeholders in the planning and design of professional learning, instructional materials supports, and program improvement for administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, support staff and operational staff.

Education and/or Experience:
Master’s degree in Special Education and/or school administration.  Prior administrator-level/supervisory experience desired (Special Education preferred).  Two years of Special Education teaching required.  Five years or more of Special Education teaching experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Special Education Administration Certification is required (or must obtain this certification within three years of hire date in this position).  Missouri Teaching Certification in the area of Special Education required.
