Job Description:
IT Specialist
The West Oak Lane Charter School IT Specialist provides support to teachers and administrative staff, users of PowerSchool SIS and ensures that other software and computer systems are working in a proper and efficient manner.  The IT Specialist effectively troubleshoots hardware and software issues as they occur and responds to tickets submitted by staff through the helpdesk software program. The IT Specialist also manages the WOLCS Website (www.wolcs.org) to keep content and information up-to-date and works with the Department Director to design and deliver on-site professional development for staff on technology integrated solutions for instructional and administrative purposes. 
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to perform tasks such as providing operating systems and application software installations and upgrades, virus protection and eradication
  • Ability to work independently, effectively interact with school personnel and support the Compliance and Information Technology director as requested
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Excel, Word, and other MS Office programs
  • Demonstrate proficiency in updating/modifying website to achieve desired result
  • Awareness of PC hardware components, desktop operating systems software, and application software 
  • Awareness of PC industry’s current and emerging technology trends
  • Eager to learn, self-motivated, flexible and accountable  
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • A+ and MCSA, or equivalent work experience
  • Requires a basic knowledge of Network Operating Systems, Cloud-based email systems, telecommunication systems, and client applications
