Office of Information Technology
The Berks County Intermediate Unit (BCIU) is an educational service agency that helps children learn and schools excel. It provides leadership, resources, training, and services to schools, families, and communities of Berks County and beyond. Services include alternative and special education, child care, curriculum and staff development, pupil transportation, printing and duplicating, joint purchasing, and public relations.
The Office of Information Technology supports the core technology and operational requirements of the Berks County Intermediate Unit’s approximately 100 programs by insuring that staff members and programs have the necessary access to information, applications, and supporting technology.
Additionally, the office is responsible to the broader community of technology users at our member school districts in providing applications support for a variety of systems and services that support the daily operations of these constituent organizations. They provide technology services to our partner schools and community organizations in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to:
BCIU has a position available to provide desktop support to a geographically dispersed user base as an integral member of Service Center team. The successful candidate will provide hardware, software, network, and telecommunications support & training to the end-user using structured problem determination, root cause analysis and documented solutions.
We are specifically seeking candidates with working knowledge and/or certification in administration/operation of enterprise IT service management (ITSM) software. Successful candidates should possess established experience in creation and deployment of software packages, OS imaging and patch management and demonstrated proficiency with troubleshooting desktop and mobile platforms using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager or established experience with a similar platform.
An Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field from an accredited college, university, or technical school preferred. Or, a minimum of three (3) years of significant and applicable experience in administering, monitoring, maintaining, and securing a large-scale desktop environment.

- Consulting, design, and implementation of local-area and wide-area computer networks
- Software services, including K-12 financial, student, and special education management support software, and more
- Recommendation, evaluation, and purchasing of educational software and hardware products
- Development of property tax billing/tracking systems.
