Job Description:
The Lone Jack C6 School District is looking for a qualified applicant to serve as a special education paraprofessional.    The applicant must have completed a minimum of 60 college credits or passed the MEGA ParaProfessional Assessment.  Lone Jack is a rural school located on the outskirts of the Kansas City metropolitan area.  If interested please email the following items to Mrs. Kelly Stockhorst at humanresources@lonejackc6.net:

The paraprofessional is to provide support to the instructional program within the assigned classroom with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of special needs students in the regular classroom or in a self-contained classroom.
The list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:
Essential Functions
  • Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing positive behavior and learning.
  • May be assigned to support one student or several student; as directed by the administrator
  • Implement behavioral plans and instructional methodologies designed by IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions for the purpose of presenting and reinforcing learning concepts under the supervision of assigned teacher
  • Model positive behavior for assigned students (e.g. interpersonal communication, homework processes, social interaction, etc.) for the purpose of providing educational and life skills training. This may include instruction in behavior, social skills, and executive functioning
  • Use positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior and provide consequences and alternatives for problem behavior
  • Collect data in regard to behavior in order to make possible changes and revisions to the program
  • Intervenes in potential conflicts utilizing appropriate physical and/or therapeutic approaches for the purpose of diffusing confrontations and minimizing disruptions

Additionally, the paraprofessional must be able to:
  • Prepare/maintain accurate records and gather and/or collect data
  • Work with a wide diverse group of students and staff and effectively communicate with the team
  • Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions
  • Remain calm, fair, consistent, and respectful in escalated situations
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Make logical and practical decisions
  • Relate to the student in a positive, effective, and age-appropriate manner
  • Use computers and related technologies as needed by the program and student goals
  • Adhere to safety practices
  • Remain flexible to changes in assignments and changes in a variety of circumstances
  • Problem solve as required to identify issues and create action plans
