We are hiring founding kindergarten, first grade, second grade, art, music, and physical education teachers for the 2022-23 school year. 

About the School:
The Leadership School is a new, innovative charter public school that will open fall 2022 to serve students and families within the boundaries of the Normandy Schools Collaborative. The school will start with kindergarten through second grade and add a grade each year, growing to kindergarten through eighth grade over six years. 

About the Position:
Founding Teachers at The Leadership School must have an entrepreneurial focus. Teacher professional knowledge and insights are key to establishing a successful school. Founding Teachers have opportunities to lead, manage and execute projects and initiatives. They won’t just execute a predetermined vision but help to create the vision. 
Founding Teachers provide high expectations, structure and accountability to ensure that all students meet or exceed learning and leadership goals. Our teachers must believe that every child deserves access to a high-quality education, and be committed to improving their practice in order to provide the best possible educational experience for all students. Founding Teachers have a proven track record of success in the classroom, analyze student data to improve outcomes, and build effective relationships with students and families. 

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Missouri Teaching Certification: Early Childhood (Birth-3rd), Elementary (1-6) or relevant Elective 
  • Strong instructional, classroom management and discipline skills
  • Passion and commitment to the mission of The Leadership School
  • Proven record of success in the classroom  
  • Excitement to learn and grow as a teacher and a leader
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively analyze data to improve student achievement
  • Ability to create a positive, structured environment for students to observe, understand, and exemplify leadership
  • Ability to work independently with diverse constituents while maintain high professional standards
  • Ability to connect with students and respond to their changing academic and personal needs
  • Ability and eagerness to give and receive thoughtful, constructive feedback 
  • Commitment to educational equity

Key Responsibilities 
  • All employees of The Leadership School must support and maintain the integrity of the school’s mission and values. Founder Teachers: 
  • Plan and implement The Leadership School's chosen curriculum based on Missouri Content Standards 
  • Plan and implement individualized learning for all students 
  • Accept accountability for individual and collective student achievement 
  • Employ strong working/communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Maintain and continuously improve professional competence through regular attendance at Professional Development opportunities
  • Attend required school events throughout the year (i.e. Back to School, Open House, Conferences, Seasonal Programs, etc.)
  • May be responsible for planning and implementing designated co-curricular activities and/or programs at the school such as curricular fairs, awards programs, and field trips 
  • May take on leadership roles and/or other duties in accordance with The Leadership School’s Distributive Leadership model
