Job Description:
The Project Advancing Wellness and Resilience Education (AWARE) grant Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and leading all project activities under the district’s new Project AWARE five-year project. The purpose of Project AWARE is to increase awareness of mental health issues among school-age youth, train educators and other youth-serving adults to detect and respond to mental health issues and to connect children, youth and families who may experience behavioral health issues with appropriate services. Program implementation is expected to expand access to school and community-based mental health services, build capacity and leadership to sustain community based mental health promotion, prevention, early identification and treatment services and initiatives, build collaboration among families, schools and communities, increase culturally specific and developmentally appropriate mental health services, provide outreach to youth and families, develop systems for identifying signs and symptoms early and link families to existing services and develop multi-tiered behavioral health frameworks.
Project Manager:
(1) will coordinate the grant project, develop a leadership team and facilitate the completion of the needs assessment.
(2) will coordinate and supervise grant staff, programs and initiatives
(3) will utilize experience to support the coordination of the project participants and work to develop and implement the Project AWARE Framework into a comprehensive plan for Middletown.
(4) will implement school mental health frameworks that promote the mental health of all students, including students in need of more intensive support.
The AWARE Project Manager will report to the Superintendent of Schools and the Director of Pupil Services will attend all required grant meetings as required by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA) and State Department of Education (SDE)
Additional Responsibilities:
→Support the work of the Project AWARE Leadership Team by scheduling and attending meetings, working with the team to prepare for meetings and ensuring work is progressing; distributing meeting notices, minutes, and other communication in a timely way.                                                           
→Collect/analyze/synthesize/monitor data with relation to the project and generate reports related to its goal. Facilitate strategic planning efforts based on data analysis.                                              
→Provide oversight and clinical expertise to programs and projects under the Project AWARE Framework and in coordination with the Leadership Team.
→Coordinate communications, public relations, presentations relations, presentations related to the project to various audiences.
→Be thoroughly familiar with, and adhere to funder requirements. Complete and submit reports required by funders.
→Maintain, manage and report budget income and expenses under the direction of the Project AWARE Leadership Team.
The qualified candidate must have Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, have experience managing projects between educational institutions and local service systems and have expertise in the fields of education, mental health, and/or substance abuse. Other experience working with multiple systems, clinical field and community organizing will be highly considered. Preferred qualifications include: Certified social worker, licensed counselor/clinician, 068/071 endorsement codes preferred, and/or mental health certifications. Compensation for the position is between $75,000 and $80,000 based on experience and education. This position is inclusive of a 12-month work year. Funding for the potion is supported through a grant provided under Project AWARE through the State Department of Education (SDE) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
