Position: Early Childhood Teacher 

Description, Responsibilities, & Duties
The H.F. Epstein Hebrew Academy, located in Olivette, MO, is seeking a warm, nurturing, and creative teacher for our Early Childhood Center (ECC). The school currently has 30 children in its three classrooms, ages 2-5, but is looking to expand to serve younger children. The position reports to the Director of Early Childhood Education and works collaboratively with other teachers. The ECC is looking to grow and innovate over the coming years.

Specific responsibilities include the following:
  • Ensure that nurturing bonds are developed with each student through individualized care 
  • Ensure that positive and culturally sensitive relationships are fostered with parents and families to support the development of students through ongoing communication 
  • Ensure that parents are provided opportunities for involvement in their child’s education 
  • Ensure accurate documentation has been maintained regarding each child's development and growth through daily observation and recording of student’s behavior and skill attainment 
  • Facilitate DIAL-4 test for students aged 3 and up
  • Ensure that screening and assessment results are utilized to plan effective individualized outcomes and meet individual needs 
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities which will promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of each child. 
  • Develop lesson plans with goals, objectives, activities and outcomes for children that integrate health, nutrition, mental health, disabilities and parent involvement into the plans. 

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
  • Associates degree (A.S.) in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a closely related field. (bachlor’s degree preferred) from a two or four-year college or university. 
  • Certification in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education preferred
  • Prior experience in a teaching position 
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Early Childhood Education licensing requirements is required.
  • Previous experience and/or current skills must include: 
  • ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team;
  • demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to maintain integrity; 
  • ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion; 
  • ability to build a cohesive team and be flexible; 
  • knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices and programming; 
  • sensitivity to cultural differences; ability to create a positive and harmonious workplace; 
  • ability to understand individual learning styles and their influence on the well-being of students and climate of Epstein Hebrew Academy.
