TITLE: Executive Director of Student Achievement, Academic Programs and Professional Development, PreK-12 
 
Responsible for direct oversight, development and implementation of curriculum, instruction, assessment, intervention systems, instructional coaching models, summer school programs, gifted and talented education and professional development in academic and magnet pathway content areas.
 
REPORTS TO:  Superintendent of Schools  
 
SUPERVISES:  Principals (in conjunction with the Superintendent) and other department staff as assigned 
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 092 Certification from the Connecticut State Department of Education
  • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the field of education; doctorate preferred but nor required
  • A minimum of five years of successful general education classroom teaching experiences in elementary, middle and/or high school levels
  • At least four years of experience serving as a successful building-level leader (092)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCES:
  • Knowledge of PreK-12 CT Core Standards in Mathematics and Language Arts as well as thorough knowledge of national standards in the areas of Social Studies (C3Framework), Science (NGSS), PE/Health, ISTE (technology education), Art and Music education and Early Childhood education (CT ELDS standards).
  • Knowledge and experience leading curriculum development, revision, vertical alignment and implementation practices independently and through committee work
  • Knowledge and experiences leading instructional initiatives aligned to research-based, multi-tiered practices
  • Knowledge and experiences of cultural competencies and how to integrate these into instructional practices in content areas
  • Knowledge and experiences leading initiatives around instructional coaching systems, including knowledge of how to manage, monitor and measure levels of impact related to instructional coaching practices
  • Knowledge and experiences leading initiatives around SRBI intervention systems, including knowledge of how to manage, monitor and measure levels of impact related to differentiated instructional and SRBI practices
  • Knowledge and experience working deeply with a variety of national, state and local accountability measures, PreK-12; ability to analyze data from the high level down to the individual student level
  • Knowledge and experiences leading work around assessment and grading practices; including traditional grading systems and standards-based grading systems
  • Knowledge and experiences leading initiatives around Gifted and Talented Education
  • Knowledge of Dual/Bilingual, International Baccalaureate, Arts and STEM educational frameworks and how to further develop and implement, support, monitor and enhance these unique learning opportunities for students
