Job Description:
Responsible for the design and implementation of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each student assigned to the classroom. Responsible for assessing the functioning level of each student and for developing and implementing goals and objectives based on this assessment. Responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the
program and participating in the students’ interdisciplinary IEP team meeting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assesses the functional, learning and performance levels of each student as they relate to the motor, cognitive and social skills required for classroom activities and prepares appropriate reports.
2. Writes functional educational goals based on individual student needs in accordance with state and federal laws and Woods Services policies.
3. Prepares and implements daily written lessons plans.
4. Develops and implements a variety of formal and informal teaching methods and techniques as determined to be appropriate for each student in accordance with the
approved IEP/IHP/ISP and client assessments.
5. Establishes and uses objective data collection systems and approved Progress Monitoring systems to help ensure that students are making adequate progress on IEP
goals and objectives?
6. Develops and implements individual student behavioral programs, as appropriate and in accordance with Woods Behavior Management policy.
7. Devises and obtains instructional materials and assures the proper maintenance of these materials.
8. Maintains and utilizes adaptive/assistive equipment and devices.
9. Implements, directs and assists with proper feeding, toileting, positioning and care of students.
10. Models positive behavior and interaction; adheres to all Woods Services policies.
11. Completes all required paperwork in accordance with Woods and program policies and procedures.
12. Maintains a positive, safe, healthy and controlled learning environment; ensures supervision of all assigned clients.
13. Assists with student transportation, before and after school, if necessary.
14. Directs activities of instructional aides and assures implementation of established instructional procedures.
15. Attends and participates in team meetings and faculty meetings as requested and/or scheduled.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree and possession of a current Pennsylvania Professional Certificate in Mentally and/or Physically Handicapped or Special Education N-12. Responsible for maintaining this certification and for maintaining and developing professional skills by participating in appropriate training sessions and or/courses.  Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication.
2. Experience in developing and implementing special education programs and classroom management for students with developmental disabilities or related
experience is preferred.
3. Physical Requirements: Able to lift/transfer a minimum of 50 pounds, be agile, physically pursue clients on foot, physically restrain, bend, squat, stretch, reach, push up and stand for several hours at a time.
4. Act 34 Criminal History Background Check Report, Act 114 FBI Criminal History Report & PA Child Abuse Report.
