POSITION TITLE: Director of Curriculum and Instruction- Secondary (Middle School and High School)
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Administrative (Act 93) 12-month Position
POSITION GOAL: To support district efforts to connect and sequence teaching strategies across lesson and units using a school-wide research-based instructional planning and delivery model. Provides oversight and implementation of all secondary curriculum with additional K-12 duties and responsibilities.

SOME ESSENTIALS FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Oversight of Secondary Curriculum Review Cycle and Adoption of 6-12 Programs
- Develop budget for Grades 6-12 Curriculum & K-12 Professional Development Programs
- Develop, coordinate and implement Grades 6-12 as well as K-12 Inservice Day Planning
- Responsible for UPOLA Oversight
- Oversee secondary assessments, including standardized testing (PSAT, SAT, ACT, End-of-Course Exams) and data-driven decision-making
- Serve as the District Assessment Coordinator (DAC) for PSSA and Keystone Exams
- Collaborate with principals/special education staff/coaches/specialists to implement MTSS and aligned academic intervention programs, credit recovery and gradation support for at-risk secondary students
- Responsible for Act 158 Pathways in Coordination with High School Team including CTE, Dual Enrollment, Internships & Post secondary Opportunities
- Serve as LinkIt Point of Contact supporting data analysis and reporting for K-12 programs
- Oversight of the Career Education and Work Standards and Required State Reporting
- Responsible for Educator Effectiveness - Act 13 (Supervision & Evaluation) and reporting (PVAAS, etc.)
- Support and Update Embarc (Curriculum Mapping/Management) for 6-12 Courses
- Grade 6-12 Day 190 Approvals for Teacher/Counselor Flexible Professional Development
- Collaborate with Building Principals, Coaches, Community Partners to engage students and parents with college/career planning, secondary academic pathways, and workforce development
- Develop Specialized Schedules and Plans Supporting K-12 Programming – FID / Virtual in FRCPP, TLS
- Coordinate, implement, Support and Analyze Impact of Technology Software Integrations and Implementation including Staff Development for Grades 6-12 Curricular Programs with IT Department
- Coordinator of 6-12 Curriculum Assistants / Dept. Chairs & Co-Lead Professional Edu. Committee (PEC)
- Oversight of Secondary Coaches/College and Support Secondary Specialists with Building Principals
- Serves as Educational Programs and Services Committee Member
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned by the Superintendent
- Education/Experience Requirements:
- PA Administrative Certification - Curriculum and Instruction or Principal
- 5 years’ experience in a district level / curriculum leadership role, and classroom teaching experience.
- Ability to collaborate with teachers and administrators and build positive relationships
- Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and provide valid solutions
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and time-management skills
- Outstanding levels of verbal and written communication
- Proficiency in the use of all forms of relevant technology
- Experience with establishing a departmental budget and previous supervisory experience
CERTIFICATIONS/CLEARANCES:
- Current Act 24, Act 34, Act 114, Act 151, and Act 168 clearances
- Physicial and TB test
- Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Have the ability to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
- Exposed to moderate noise level
- Must be able to function at a high level and must possess the judgment and maturity required for making decisions that affect large numbers or staff. The nature of the job requires dealing with sensitive information and strict standards of confidentially must be adhered to; and
- May be required to work under stressful conditions when dealing with difficult issues and when participating in special education matters
- Effective organizational and supervisory skills
