Position: Long Term Sub/Band Director/Music Educator

Start Date: August 29, 2022

Approximate End Date: October 14, 2022
Position Description: Northwestern Regional High School, a small, rural, suburban high school recognized at both the state and national level for academic excellence, is seeking a dynamic music educator as a long term substitute to teach a comprehensive, high achieving band program.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • Music, Pre-K through 12, Certification (049)
  • Knowledge of overall operation of an instrumental music program
  • Wide ranging repertoire of knowledge and strategies used to teach the elements and language of music
  • UConn ECE certification, or must be able to become certified 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with music staff
  • Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to form positive relationships with students, parents and staff members
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1). Daily teaching responsibilities include teaching two high school bands, UConn ECE Fundamentals of Music/Music Theory, co-teaching of the middle school band, as well as one 8th grade piano class.
2). The position requires running of a three day band camp (8/17-8/19) as well as one weekend performance in September (9/17).
3). Additional stipend per the NTA teaching contract for band camp.
